Air Ducts &
Vents You should consider closing vents in
seldom or unused rooms, and keep the doors to these rooms closed.
Have your ducts tested for leaks and
get them properly sealed and insulated, especially those running through
basements, crawl spaces and attics. Energy
Savings When possible, delay heat-generating
appliances such as dishwashers, dryers, vacuums, and other major appliances
until evening on hot days. Cool it
Down Keep windows closed during the day.
This sounds simple, but many people forget to close the windows in the morning,
thereby letting hot air into the house during the day. Open your windows during the evening to
allow the cooler breeze to come into your home. Keep your
Condenser Cool Provide shade for your room AC or
outside central AC unit. You can increase the efficiency of your unit by as much
as 10%. Follow manufacturers guidlines so you don't block crucial air flow.
In the
Shade Installing effective shading and/or
tinting your windows can create large savings. White window shades or mini
blinds can effectively reduce solar heat gain by as much as 50%.
Service Contracts
Save Money We'll provide routine maintenance for
your air conditioner. We provide
service contracts to ensure your system is properly maintained before the summer
and winter weather kicks in. This
will maximize your systems efficiency and help reduce costs. Ceiling
Fans Use ceiling fans to circulate air
when using higher thermostat settings for a cool, comfortable feeling while
saving energy. Combine the fans with a higher thermostat setting for optimum
comfort and savings. Thermostat
Settings Set
temperature slightly higher (80 – 82) when the home/office is unoccupied.
Keeping the unit on will prevent it from working too hard to cool down the
entire home/office. For example, it is easier to cool down a home/office that is
80 degrees versus one that is 90 degrees. Air Conditioner
won’t turn on YOU CAN CHECK THESE
ITEMS: 1.
CHECK YOUR FILTER TO
MAKE SURE IT IS CLEAN AND NOT OBSTRUCTING AIRFLOW. 2.
MAKE SURE THE
THERMOSTAT IS IN THE AUTO POSITION AND SET TO COOLING MODE.
3.
CHECK THE
BREAKER/CIRCUIT BOX, MAKE SURE THE BREAKER FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON (NOT
TRIPPED). \

Rule of
Thumb There’s
a 20 degree differential. For example, if it is 100 degrees outside, the unit
will cool to about 80 degrees inside. Older units have a harder time cooling in
extreme heat; newer, more efficient units will cool quicker. |
